When the Erisa Law Group became a client there were several issues that we had to tackle with their network that were being overlooked by their previous I.T. guys. So our first focus was to get them productive, we fixed their e-mails and printers and then we focused on tackling their server and hardware issues. Then to top it all off we safeguarded their irreplaceable documents by adding Backup and Disaster Recovery with our Business Continuity appliance.
ERISA Law Group
ERISA Law Group Came to J – I.T. Outsource with a Load of Problems. And Now …
When ERISA Law Group became a client in 2011, they had a whole host of problems. The server was ancient. Hardware was on its last legs. Email was unreliable. Viruses were rampant. They needed better processes and to migrate to a new system without losing productivity.
In addition to the risk of the server giving it all up, they had persistent email problems and trouble with shared files and printers. There were constant virus infections that ruined the last bits of productivity around the office. “Oh, it was bad,” Valerie Taylor, Business Manager, recalls. “So, so bad. I don’t remember how we even survived without J – I.T. Outsource on the job.”
The final straw? The previous computer “professionals” left almost no documentation. As a law firm, ERISA keeps great records, but what business thinks of logins, passwords and other credentials as business assets? We do. Creating clear documentation was one of the first tasks we tackled.
Then came the migration of the ancient server. We set up shared files and printers so everyone could always access what they needed. Once the network was up, email and client documents went to the cloud to give them control without a huge price tag via our multi-tenant Exchange environment – the only one in the Central Valley.
To safeguard their irreplaceable documents, we added Backup and Disaster Recovery with our Business Continuity appliance. Instead of the industry-average of a week to ten days, we can get them up and running inside an hour – even with a complete server failure.
One final benefit? With the system set up and documented, it was so easy when it came time for ERISA to move into a new office across town.
“You’d think I.T. guys would pass the buck when the office furniture didn’t arrive as expected, but no. You planned ahead and we were taken care of. We really appreciate that!” said Valerie.
